Invest in a modern dishwasher to save on energy and water bills.
According to the team at Choice, a modern dishwasher uses approximately six times less water than washing dishes by hand. They also state that when it comes to energy, getting the water in your sink hot enough to do the dishes is nearly double that of running a dishwasher.
Tips on using your dishwasher:
1. Scrape, don’t rinse
Pre-rinsing your dishes is wasting your time and water as it doesn’t actually make a difference to how clean they'll come out at the end.
Do scrape off any large bits of food though, or they will accumulate in your dishwasher.
2. Wash a full load
Your dishwasher uses the same amount of detergent and water no matter how many dishes are loaded. Make sure your dishwasher is fully loaded to get the most value from your water and dishwashing detergent.
3. Use vinegar as rinse aid
Vinegar is a cost effective alternative to store bought rinse aids. It helps to rinse away residue and remove odours which can build up in your dishwasher.
