Bath Bomb effects on Plumbing

They're colourful, filled with glitter and smell simply divine... but are your precious Bath Bombs doing more damage to your home plumbing system than you realise?

One of the downsides to the lovely Bath Bomb is that depending on what they contain they potentially can wreak havoc on your drains. Store bought Bath Bombs can contain copious amounts of glitter (which isn't biodegradable), oily essences, petals and small leaves, all of which can clog your drains.

(Warning: If you'd prefer to spend Valentine's Day with a lover and not a Plumber, skip the store bought Bath Bombs and DIY your own)

If you're a frequent bath bomb user, you could potentially have a large amount of greasy buildup already in your bathroom drainage pipes. Don't despair however there is still time to change your ways without having to skimp on your weekly relaxing soak.

After 2 uses of bath bombs it's wise to rinse out your drains with a traditional vinegar and baking soda mixture. Run the Hot Water down the drain, add 1/2 cup of baking soda and then 1/2 cup of vinegar. Open up the windows and fan in your bathroom to avoid fumes. Leave the mixture for 5 minutes and then rinse with Hot Water. This will not remedy a major clog and we advise you to call a Plumber.

You don't have to miss out on the amazing Lush Bath Bombs, but it is recommended to cover them in a nylon stocking to prevent the debris from ending up in your drain.
